When I joined the Global Water Forum’s Water Voices program as a Translator and Audio Visual Producer, the mission was to document and amplify the lived experiences of people navigating complex water challenges. This project required a very different kind of linguistic approach. I wasn't translating a static academic document or a legal framework; I was translating human emotion, urgency, and survival.

Working on the Flood Green Guide Training Program for the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) Environmental and Disaster Management Program was a defining moment that allowed me to merge my linguistic discipline with my background in multimedia production. For this project, I didn't just step in as a Translator; I took on the roles of Designer and Audio Visual Producer as well.

My work translating the International Crisis Group (ICG) Reports on the Sri Lanka War and Human Rights from English into Sinhala was a deliberate effort to bridge that exact gap.

For most of my early career, my focus was on translating English academic and historical texts into Sinhala to enrich our local consciousness. Working with the International Crisis Group (ICG) reversed that dynamic. I was tasked with translating extensive research material regarding the year 2000 Bindunuwewa Massacre from Sinhala into English.
